Sixers will be more active in free agency

The 76ers have been quiet since the free-agency period began on July 1.

Sam Hinkie, the Sixers general manager, said the team will be more active in August.

"I have been telling agents around the league that we are more likely to [acquire] players then," he said. "But we are active on a bunch of fronts.

"I don't have anyone in particular in mind that I would announce now. If I did, someone might sign him before we did."

Hinkie added the Sixers have yet to invite undrafted rookie free agents to training camp.

The 6-foot-3 guard out of Rutgers was an NBA failure before becoming a star overseas.

Douby was selected by the Sacramento Kings with the 19th overall pick of the 2006 NBA draft. He averaged 4.1 points, 1.1 rebounds and just 10.7 minutes over a four-year career with the Kings and Toronto Raptors.

The Brooklyn native has played professionally overseas after being released by the Raptors on Nov. 12, 2009. He averaged 31.6 points this past season for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls of the Chinese Basketball Association. Douby scored 75 points on Jan. 2 to set CBA record.
