Report: Sixers trying to trade Iguodala for Bynum

The Sixers are involved in trade talks concerning a deal that could see them deal all-star forward and Olympian Andre Iguodala and receive Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum.

According to a report that first appeared on Yahoo!, the Sixers have been engaged for a few days in talks about a possible four team deal that also includes the Denver Nuggets and the Orlando Magic.

Reached for comment on Wednesday, Sixers CEO and minority owner Adam Aron, as is the team's policy, did not comment on the talks.

The potential blockbuster deal would send Iguodala to the Nuggets. Orlando center Dwight Howard and Denver forward All Harington would be shipped to the Lakers, who would send Bynum to Philadelphia. Orlando would receive forward Pau Gasol from the Lakers and guard Arron Afflalo from Denver. Orlando guard Jason Richardson has also been mentioned prominently as part of the deal.

Bynum, 24, is 7-0, 285 pounds and regarded as probably the second-best center in the league behind Howard.  Last season, Bynum averaged 18.7 points, 11.8 rebounds and almost two blocks per game.

Entering the final year of his contract, Bynum is scheduled to make slightly less than $16.5 million this season. It would be to the Sixers' benefit to know if Bynum would be willing to sign a long-term deal with the team, otherwise he could wind up being a half-season rental and the Sixers could possibly find themselves trying to deal the center next season at the trade deadline.

The good news for the Sixers, if this were to be the case, is that there would almost certainly be a healthy market for Bynum, who has had his own set of health issues in the past.

Bynum has had surgery on both his knees. Taken by the Lakers with the 10th pick in the 2005 draft, Bynum has played all 82 games just once in his career.  Although he appeared in 60 of 66 possible games this past season, Bynum appeared in just 204 of a possible 328 games from the 2007-08 season through the 2010-11 season.
