Jordan denies Rutgers report

Prior to tonight's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, 76ers coach Eddie Jordan denied a report by Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski that he has told those close to him that he has "significant" interest in the head coaching job at his alma mater, Rutgers University.

Jordan will be dismissed as Sixers coach at season's end, which was reported in the Inquirer a month ago. The Sixers play their final game of this season on Wednesday at the Orlando Magic. Jordan's dismissal won't be long after the season's end, although a specific timeframe has not been set.

Wojnarowski reported that Jordan "could be a serious candidate" for the Rutgers' gig, which is currently occupied by Fred Hill (he's been given until Monday to accept a $600,000 buyout).

Tonight, Jordan said: "I haven't expressed any interest, I haven't talked to anybody about the Rutgers job."

When asked if he'd seen the report, Jordan said: "I have not. I couldn't get internet in my room today, so … but, no, I haven't talked about the Rutgers job to anyone. I haven't talked about it; I haven't even thought about it."
