Jackson out

Mark Jackson's agent, Steve Kauffman, has confirmed that his client has withdrawn his name from consideration to become the next 76ers coach.

Jackson seemed poised to become the team's next interview -- after Doug Collins and Avery Johnson -- but Kauffman explained that Jackson just did not feel the opening was the right one for him at this time.

Jackson, 45, played in the NBA from 1987-2004 and is currently working with Jeff Van Gundy as a broadcaster for ESPN/ABC.

Sixers President and General Manager Ed Stefanski has set up an interview for sometime next week with Monty Williams. Williams, 38, played 10 seasons in the NBA and is currently working as an assistant coach with the Portland Trail Blazers.
