We're a few minutes from tonight's tip off here at the Wachovia Center: 76ers vs. Houston Rockets.

Sixers have lost 11 in a row, are 5-17, and haven't won since Nov. 18.

Here's the latest from the Sixers. First the good, then the bad (although the bad might also be good depending on how you feel).

1.) The good: Talked to Marreese Speights tonight. He said he's seeing the doctor after tonight's game in hopes he's cleared to practice. If he gets cleared, he should be able to practice tomorrow. Not sure exactly the timetable for his return to games, but he seems to be ahead of the timetable initially set. The Sixers were saying 6 weeks from Nov. 14, when Speights partially tore the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

Also good, rookie Jrue Holiday has been cleared to play tonight. Holiday missed the previous 3 games with a right rotator cuff strain. Sixers coach Eddie Jordan said he'd try to get Holiday in the action as soon as possible.

2.) The bad?: Jordan just said that going forward they'll have to "monitor" Allen Iverson's minutes, play him in 6 to 8 minute bursts, totaling no more than 32 to 35 minutes a game. Jordan said Iverson has a sore shin. He also said "Allen isn't Allen" yet, which I think we could all see from watching the games. The only question is whether Allen can be Allen again, ever.

This second news isn't necessarily bad, especially considering Holiday can play tonight and needs to get some minutes, anyway. Plus, Iverson only played 33 minutes in the loss to the Detroit Pistons and 37 in the loss to the Denver Nuggets. So it's not a huge downgrade.

Maybe adding Lou and Mureese to the new starting 5 would be a good 7 players to go with in the near future.

He'll be fired when the Wizards are no longer paying for the majority of his salary :)

Eddie Jordan coached teams (Sixers+Wiz): 8W and 33L in last 41 games. It is impressive he's only been fired once in that span...

1st remove coach Jordan.. and try hard in bringing back Tony D. 2nd Don't let Willie "No D" Green play more then 10mins per game. Yes he'll have stretches of good shooting, but of those games, he also got burnt on the man he was guarding for game winners (J TERRY, and R FElTON). Today he was 1-7 in 24mins of play... shouldn't the coach see this? We need a new coach, PLZ and better rotation. AI(IVEY,JRUE), IGGY(CARDNEY,GREEN), YOUNG(KAPONO,CARDNEY), BRAND(SMITH),DBERT(BREZAC).. Still feeling good about our season and chances, I believe we'll get our WIN .. this Monday :)

Sixers need Speights and Lou, big time. Right now, the Sixers are a good example that hard work doesn't necessarily yield results. I admire how they're playing hard, but if they soon don't get off the schnide (as Zumoff says), they may lose that determination in midwinter 2010, maybe in time for a massive multiteam trade that leaves the Sixers ready to reload via free agency and the lottery?

Someone correct me if i am wrong, but i dont think Mo Cheeks was shown as much patience - 12 game losing streak. Why is Eddie Jordan still here. I just dont see where this team is responding to him or that his style is having a positive resulted oriented impact. I thought they played better much better defense under Tony Dileo. Offensively, they pushed the ball and well maybe they should go back to that as well.
