Holiday out, Brand in

*Updated: Holiday has a strained right rotator cuff and is not playing tonight. With Holiday out (he's listed as day-to-day and will be evaluated further tomorrow), Eddie Jordan started a lineup of Willie Green, Andre Iguodala, Thaddeus Young, Elton Brand, and Samuel Dalembert.

Yesterday at Sixers practice, Brand expressed his displeasure at coming off the bench. (He only started tonight because of Holiday's injury). Tonight before the game, we asked Jordan about Brand's comments. Basically, Jordan said you can't control what players say and he didn't worry about such things when making his decisions. Then, Jordan joked that Brand told Holiday to go up and try to block Green's dunk (Holiday hurt his shoulder blocking a Green dunk in practice yesterday. You can infer exactly what Jordan was jokingly implying.)

Tomorrow the Sixers will practice at PCOM for the first time with Allen Iverson. We'll be blogging and Tweeting tomorrow from practice as well as posting video as soon as practice lets out.

And here's the post from earlier today about Holiday:

76ers rookie point guard Jrue Holiday is having an MRI today on his right shoulder. Holiday injured the shoulder yesterday at practice, while blocking a dunk. Right now, the Sixers are calling him a game-time decision for tonight's game against the Charlotte Bobcats. Obviously his status is dependent on the results of today's MRI.

Holiday was absent at this morning's shootaround. Sixers coach Eddie Jordan said Holiday was having trouble lifting his right arm higher than shoulder height, thus the MRI.

Holiday's potential injury is just one in a string for the Sixers, who are looking to end an 8-game losing streak tonight. First center Marreese Speights partially tore his MCL. Then Lou Williams broke his jaw. Elton Brand also missed three games with a sore right hamstring.

Obviously, right now, the addition of point guard Allen Iverson is looking crucial, especially if Holiday is forced to miss some time.

Holiday had started all the games since Williams went down just before Thanksgiving. Holiday's first start was against the Boston Celtics.

Will post Holiday's updated status as soon as available. Also, if you want this news as it happens, follow on Twitter: Deep Sixer.
