David Aldridge is reporting that former 76ers star guard Allen Iverson is about to sign a 1-year deal for $3.5 million with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Aldridge is reporting that the deal is expected to be finalized in the next 24 to 48 hours and would include incentives that could up the deal's value. Iverson, who last season fought a back injury and played sparingly for the Detroit Pistons, had been lately linked to a possible deal with the Grizzlies and was earlier said to be considering the Charlotte Bobcats and coach Larry Brown.

I hope the incentives are for being at practice.

Not to be negative, but he'll never win a title. He is looking for a paycheck right now. Keep ballin' till the skills erode. If he was serious about a title, he would have begged for the chance to go to a contender, for the minimum, in a support role. AI made a fortune, so did the Sixers, they both won and the fans lost.

GO IVERSON! Congrats! Hopefully a Cleveland or Magic will see that they need him just before the trade deadline to get them over the playoff hump and Memphis will give him up! As much as I have no reason to watch Memphis play any games, I will watch when they play the SIxers. I hope he kicks the Sixers arses too!

come on people... stop living in the past. his skills have eroded, his attitude is worse than ever, and he'll be a cancer to those young memphis players. does anyone really think he'll be veteran leader??

1 yr. for 3.5? Wow. Hard to believe that he's gone from top-10 talent to also-ran. Could this be the end?

GUARANTEE - he's released during the yr - he pouted in Detroit (everywhere, really) and Memphis is trying to groom their young players like Gay, Mayo - and no way ball-hogging, me first AI is going to help them - dumb move.

AI will fit in Memphis as long as they let him show up for practice in flip flops and he can park his Bentley in a handicap spot right outside the players entrance

Nobody forgets what he did here. He'll always have our respect for that. There was a lot of good & a lot of bad. The good was great, but unfortunately, he never outgrew the bad. That's why hes in memphis now. Good luck to him, but strictly from a basketball perspective, my impression is this will hurt the development of memphis' young players.
