Collins to miss game
76ers coach Doug Collins will not coach tonight's pre-season game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Sixers announced. Collins is suffering from symptoms related to a concussion he suffered on Memorial Day. In his place, associate head coach Michael Curry will assume the bench duties.
The Sixers said that Collins' status for tomorrow night's home pre-season game against the New York Knicks has yet to be determined.

This is alarming. Don't want to read too much into this, but how come I am smelling an exit out of this job. What was the over/under on burnout again? Mattb
Having to endure Sixers basketball on a daily basis would give me brain damage too. UncleEddie
Apparently it happened at Sixers practice. Witnesses report seeing Coach Collins get slammed in the head with a huge dose of reality... logicalthought- So wait, he was hired in June, after suffering a head injury in May. Sounds like he agreed to coach the Sixers while still suffering, "post concussion symptoms." There should have been a doctor asking him questions before he agreed to become the coach like, "Is Iguodala good at the 2 spot?" or, "Can Elton Brand still be productive?" Answering yes to either of these questions would mean he would have to sit out a week or so before he could agree to coach this team. mjc1
- I think Collins got the concussion when the 76ers drafted Turner instead of Cousins who looks terrific for the Kings in the preseason.
LMAO @ mjc1 Hugh_S- Wait. MEMORIAL DAY? In May? Even if the concussion happened on LABOR DAY, recurring symptoms would be frightening. But in May? What a blizzard of questions this news creates. Truly shocking. Nutron
makes you wonder what he is eating for lunch nowadays... Lunchboy
This has to be a concern for Sixers ownership; a concussion almost six months ago? Is the pressure of this job and the realization that the Sixers lack the personnel necessary to smell the playoffs taking a toll on his health? What happens during the season if further symptons appear? What kind of impact will this have on the team as it enters the regular season next week with a lineup still in a state of flux? Fortunately for the Sixers, they are so far off the radar of most Philadelphia fans, that this news will be passed over by the media. chuckw
