Brown looks to leave Boston victorious

BOSTON –  Brett Brown realizes that it's great to be back in Boston.

The Maine native, who played at Boston University, has fond memories of going to the old Boston Garden to watch the Celtics play when he was a kid. And yes, the 52-year-old enjoys the attention he's received since the Sixers arrived in town Tuesday night.

But he expects to do much more than greet friends  Wednesday night at TD Garden.

Brown is focused on snapping the Sixers' three-game losing streak.

"My memories are strong and my appreciation for this city and this franchise is of tremendous respect,"  Brown said. "But you come in here and you are competitive. You come in here, you want to win a game.

"You want your team to play well. You want your team to play hard. You want to be proud of their effort."

This just might be the game that will snap the Sixers (14-31) out of their funk.

The Celtics (15-32) have lost three consecutive games and 18 of their last 21.

"Ironically, we are both at similar stages at the whole rebuild thing we are both going through," Brown said. "But that doesn't water down one thing I'm thinking in regards to you want to come out here and be proud of the effort that the team that you are responsible for puts on the floor. That's the bottom line."
