Best and Worst awards: Sixers vs. Rockets

HOUSTON – My look at some of the best and worst performances and happenings from the Houston Rockets' 116-114 victory over the 76ers Friday night at the Toyota Center:

Best performance: It was a no-brainer to give this award to James Harden. The  shooting guard finished with a career-high 50 points to go with nine rebounds, eight assists and nine turnovers. He also made 6 of 12 three-pointers and scored 14 of the Rockets' final 19 points.

Worst performance: I actually feel bad about giving out this award, because award no one actually played bad. But since there is an award, I'm giving it to JaKarr Sampson even though he made 3 of 5 shots to score six points in 18 minutes, 39 seconds. But he has to get the award because of his inability to guard Harden when he drew the assignment.

Best defensive performance:  This award goes to Robert Covington. The Sixers swingman finished with a career-high eight steals to go with one blocked shot. Six of his seven rebounds came on the defensive end.

Best performance by a Sixer: Covington wins this one, too.  He finished with a career-high 28 points while make  6 of 9 three-pointers.  He also had five assists and four turnovers.

Worst statistic:  This goes to the Rockets turnovers. They  turned the ball over 23 times.

Best statistic:  This award goes to the Sixers' three-point shooting. The Sixers made a franchise-best 16 three-pointers on 35 attempts.

Worst of the Worst: The Sixers losing their 27th consecutive dating back to March 27. While they played hard, the Sixers broke a U.S. professional sports record futility mark.
