"Best" and "Worst" awards: Sixers vs. Wizards

The 76ers ended their five game losing streak with Friday's 89-81 win over the Washington Wizards at the Wells Fargo Center. Here is our "Best" and Worst" of the game.

Best performance: Nerlens Noel had 14 points and 13 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season. Noel shot 5 for 9 from the field, and 4 of 6 from the foul line. He also had three assists and three blocked shots. In the fourth quarter, he scored nine points and added three rebounds.

Worst performance: All-star point guard John Wall is a tremendous talent but on this night, he couldn't buy a jumper. Wall ended up shooting 7 for 26 from the field. He had 11 assists, but also four turnovers and had a quiet 21 points.

Best defensive performance:  Sixers coach Brett Brown closed the game by having 6-8 Jerami Grant guard Wall. Grant was also on Wall during different stages of the game. While Wall had open looks, Grant's length no doubt played a role in some many of his jumpers clanging off the rim. Grant, who had four personal fouls, showed great versatility by being able to defend, one of the top one-on-one players in the league.

Best performance in a losing effort: This is a tough one, and despite shooting  8 for 19, Otto Porter gets the nod. Porter had 19 points, three rebounds and hit 2 of 5 from beyond the arc. The rest of the team was 2 for 12 from three-point range.

Best statistic: The 76ers went to the free throw line 34 times, including 18 in the fourth quarter.

Worst statistic: The Sixers only made 21 of 34 free throws (61.8 percent).

Worst statistic (Wizards variety): Washington missed 63 field goal attempts. The Wizards were 30-93 (32.3 percent).

Worst of the Worst: The Wizards continued their mystifying slump and they have now lost to two of the three worst teams in the NBA in successive games after falling on Wednesday at Minnesota, 97-77. Yes, the Wizards were without injured Kris Humphries, Paul Pierce and Bradley Beal, but there should be enough depth to withstand that against the lower rated NBA teams. Washington has lost six in a row and 11 of 13.

Notable: Jason Richardson had 12 points, on four three pointers for the Sixers…In their last 14 home games, the Sixers are 8-6 after dropping their first 14…John Wall's 7 for 26 shooting (26.9 percent) was the worst shooting percentage of his career when attempting 20 or more shots.
