ATLANTA – My look at some of the best and worst performances and happenings from the Atlanta Hawks 103-95 victory over the 76ers Monday night at Philips Arena:
Best performance: This was a tough one. Make that an extremely tough one. But I had to give this to Lou Williams despite Paul Millsap finishing with game highs of 28 points and 17 rebounds for the Hawks. Williams, however, is the one who led Atlanta to victory. His floater with 2 minutes, 26 seconds left put the Hawks up two points, 94-92. Then the former Sixer hit a three-pointer on Atlanta’s next possession to give his squad a five-point cushion. And the reserve guard capped his personal 8-3 run over the Sixers with a three-pointer to make it a 100-95 game with 1:12 to play. Williams scored 11 of his 22 points in the fourth quarter.
Worst performance: This has to go to Casper Ware. The Sixers reserve guard, who’s on a 10-day contract, missed all five of his field-goal attempts en route to being held scoreless. He also finished with two personal fouls, a steal and a turnover in 14 minutes, 12 seconds of action.
Best defensive performance: This award goes to Thaddeus Young. The Sixers power forward had a game-high four steals to go with three blocked shots. Young also finished with a team-high 23 points and three rebounds – all on the defensive end – and four assists.
