Ankle injury to sideline Moultrie next week in Orlando

POSTED: Tuesday, July 3, 2012, 4:32 PM

The Sixers, who were hoping to get a look at rookie forward Arnett Moultrie on the floor against NBA talent, will have to wait a little longer than expected.

Moultrie, who the Sixers acquired in a trade from Miami at last week’s draft, will not play in the Orlando 2012 Pro Summer League next week due to a sprained left ankle. The injury occurred during a pre-draft workout in Sacramento on June 25.

While Moultrie won’t play with the team next week, he will make the trip to Orlando in order to continue to receive treatment on the ankle. He’s also going because the Sixers want to introduce him to the team’s defensive schemes.

The Sixers acquired the draft rights (27th overall pick) in exchange for the 45th pick in the draft (rights to Justin Hamilton) and a lottery protected future first-round pick.

The League will be hosted at the Amway Center from July 9-13. The Orlando Pro Summer League affords teams the opportunity to see draft picks, undrafted free agents and other NBA hopefuls compete in a full-court setting.

    No. we will not make an offer for Howard. He won't re-sign with us - so, why bother? And thank goodness. I really don't want that no FT-shooting cry-baby on the Sixers. Let him go kill the Nets franchise.

    Second that thought on Dwight Howard...It's either Atlanta or Brooklyn for him. If one can't be happy in sunny Florida, what will?

    If Dwight Howard ends up in Brooklyn the 76ers are another step away from a championship and may need to take a serious look at themselves.

    Miami:::LeBron...D Wade...Bosh...Ray Allen???...Haslem or Chalmers

    Bulls:::Rose (healthy 13-14)...Noah...Gibson...Boozer...Deng

    Nets:::Howard...Williams...Johnson...Wallace

    76ers:::Iggy...Holiday...Turner...Thad Young...Brand

    Unfortunately we are not even close!!! Make moves now and secure assets that can be tradeable next and beyond!!!

    Same team as last season. Only exception, the 2 rookies. I'm more than pissed by the inactivity of this organization.

    Also....Danny Ferry has done more in two weeks to shape the future in Atlanta then our group has done in a year. I'm not saying what Ferry has done will down the road produce championships....no crystal ball here....but at least he has the BALLS to roll the dice and try!!! Standing pat never works....unless you have the number 1 pick in the draft and it's someone like a Shaq....but even he needed a supporting cast (Kobe) to win!!!

    Reggie Evans also went to the Nets. I don't want drama on this team. Chemistry can win over talent sometimes. That doesn't mean they should look to get better but Howard is not the answer. Like Bear said if you can't be happy in Florida.....

    The reality is this is a business and you could sell way more Howard jerseys than the rest of the Sixer team combined. The new ownership would be salivating over the idea of having a marque player.

    @bbrady: Considering how this thing is playing out, we might end up being a lottery team. Our division just got a whole lot tougher. Brooklyn isn't done yet and who knows what the Knicks might do. I hope some trades are forth-coming, otherwise it's going to be a long season.

    Good grief: this is beginning to read like the Phillies and Eagles sites. Wait until the dust settles before waving the white flag. Ray Allen is pretty well cooked; Jason Terry is 35 years old; Rose, Noah and Deng with injury issues and the Bulls apparently trying to move Deng; Nets will need to mesh disparate styles with only one basketball. I remember when the Knicks added Melo to Stoudemire and J.R. Smith and Jeremy Lin and Chandler, got one coach fired and limped into the playoffs where they were stomped by the Heat. What happened to all the Doug Collins love?

    Well diehards I just heard Gordon accepted max offer from Phoenix and says he doesn't want NO to match it. Says Phoenix really wowed him. So we can mark another free agent off the list .

    It typical Philly defeatism. Even after a team wins the title, like the Phillies did, as soon as the Front Runners (Rollins as 100% right on this) get a whiff of trouble, they whine and cry like spoiled babies. Too much talk radio BS, not nearly enough loyalty.

    Ironically.. Billy King is building a perfectly build team if he can get Howard. Gerald Wallace is a super utility man. He doesnt need the ball to be productive and useful. Joe Johnson is a overrated and over celebrated spot up shooter than CAN handle the ball. Without pressure on him he can do what he does best and hit open shots and finish like he did with Steve Nash in Phoenix before he fooled the Hawks into giving him a all world contract for being spoon fed by Nash. Deron Williams is Jason Kid with a jump shot, need we say more about his game over than lack of defense. And if howard is there there is no need for him to be a great scorer. He can just sit in the paint and goaltend like he usually does. That would be a perfect team. Build perfectly. Not a bunch of guys in different positions playing the same game. You have a top notch spot shooter, top notch creater with the ball. top notch utility man and top notch defensive center. Reggie Evans will even add more toughness to Brooklyn. Their team in two seasons will make the sixers look like they've done nothing in 5 since Iverson was traded. We should trade Iggy to toronto and get that Terrance Ross kid so we can keep up. These power teams are going to own the league. The only thing we can do is draft well the way the Thunder has done and hope someone emerges as a superstar out of the bunch. But we cant have Collins thinking he is the star of the team taking the ball out of our best players hands because he wants the credit.

    Also read that Rockets rescinded offer to Courtney Lee so he's a free agent. It listed several teams interested; the Clips, Mavs, Hawks, Suns, Bulls, Pacers, Wizards, and.....wait for it the Griz. No Sixers. I'm beginning to think maybe I should take a break from this, then maybe I can be pleasantly surprised IF we every do anything.
