76ers will send Holiday to Lottery
The 76ers will send rookie point guard Jrue Holiday to represent the team at the NBA Draft Lottery, scheduled for May 18.
The Sixers hold a 5.3 percent chance of landing the No. 1 pick in the 2010 NBA Draft -- their draft position will be determined at the lottery held in Secaucus, N.J. If odds hold, the Sixers will receive the No. 6 pick in the draft, but they have an outside chance to land spots 1 through 3.
Holiday had a strong rookie season in 2009-10 and seems to have been chosen as the team's point guard of the future.

What happens if we get the 1st pick - Jrue starts interviewing with the other GMs? Bad idea MikeCheese
Great Choice! dudega
evan turner or xavier henry. only two options. any other pick doesn't make sense. eagles84
yesssssssssssssssssssssssssss 76ers
I can imagine the look on Jrue's face if they got the #1 pick. MTbelly
if we are fortunate enough to get the 1st pick, packaging them with Brand and get the most we can and move on...With Jrue, YounG and of course Iguadola we can move on. This also gives us leverage with Dalambert who sometimes shows up and most times doesn't. That is why we need both a strong disciplinarian as a coach and a great teacher like Collins or Johnson.....So when do we get rid of Stepanski and hire Larry Brown to steer this bad boy to the promised land????????????? hrlevine
hes actually the only kid on the entire team that the coaches/management like and wanna keep long term. whether or not you value their opinion is another story. he's the youngest guy in the nba and has already shown flashes of what he can become. i think if we could keep him and dump literally everyone else, that'd be a start. drumminge6
Stefanski doesn't have the time. He has coaching interviews set-up with Clint Richardson, Charles Barkley, and Eric Snow that day. M.A.D.O.D.A.A.T.

I hope they draft someone who's too small to play the 4 but not a good enough shooter to play the 2. They could use another one of those in the starting lineup. They should just trade Thad for whatever they can get. There's no moving that Iguodala contract, and the two of them on the same team makes no sense unless all you're going to do is run all day. We've seen what a good shooting team does to that gameplan (insert "grinding to a halt" sound here). B in DC
Why are they sending a nice kid like Holiday to Secaucus? They should be sending Brand so he can earn some of that ridiculous money he's "earning." In fact, Brand should be driving the team bus, doing the laundry and cooking team meals because he isn't getting paid for what he's doing on the court. syddan26- So let me get this straight...Stiffanski is sending the 19th pick in the 2009 Draft, Holliday, to Secaucus, to represent a Franchise that will be awarded a Lottery Pick that will make WAY more money than the kid that is sitting on the Dais? Smooth move ExLax...You can't make this S&*! up. Excuse me while I go and stick a finger down my throat.
Jrue will also be the new coach JSaq
Hopefully, David Stern will fix the lottery to help the 76ers, who certainly need it. eldiablodelsol2009
rbecker1963: great post! The Sixers get more bizarre as time passes. By the way, why are some posters excited about Larry Brown returning? He does not like young players and he and Billy King were awful with most of their draft picks? When he quits, as he always does, he will leave the cupboard even barer than when he arrived. Brown will be hired, unfortunately, but as President-GM, or GM-coach, not simply as the coach. Snider is doing Stefanski a favor by giving him a chance to make some connections through all the interviews now taking place, so he can land another job in the league as soon as he is fired, right after the Flyers exit. chuckw
If all goes perfect they will get the number 1 or 2 pick and take Evan Turner - at least then they will have a solid backcourt to build off for the next 5 years while they start getting rid of the other players/contracts NEPHILLY215- Jrue will also be the new mascot. scmona
Does anyone watch the NBA, you usually send the person who you want to be the face of the franchise. Unlike iguodala holliday is personable, good PR move. ConverseB24
A nr.1 thru 3 pick would be nice. Plenty of talent available and/or better trade potential (i.e. swap down); cause Lord knows, we need some luck to turn this team around. Go Jrue, "We Want #1...We Want #1....We Want #1". flyerdup

Yeah, because the lottery pick wouldn't be making more than Holiday if Holiday doesn't go there. Nice logic. JimG
Learn a lesson from the Eagles and trade down, trade down! Leegles
Holiday going to the draft, Sam Mitchell saying nice things about Dalembert(gee, wonder who the next coach is going to be?)....the team is still so set in their King/DiLeo/Witte/Stefanski/Nash ways. Ugh! 76erfn
Woa!....Is it Basketball season already? TBear
another dumb move by a bumbling organization. seriously, who actually signed off on this? snider or stefanski should go and face the press. why send holiday to answer akward questions. snider doesn't have the guts. other owners and gm's have gone and taken their lumps. DennyP
holiday may know more than stefanski the current gm which would not take very much. only 9

Pat Croce would have attended. Where is Pete Lukko or a pro scout or Sonny Hill or Lloyd B Free? If they get the first pick, it's gonna be a little awkward. CouchKing
@M.A.D.O.D.A.A.T. don't forget he's also interviewing Wilt Chamberlain. Even from his grave he can do a better job that Eddie "even I don't know the rotation" Jordan. Phils_World_Champs
Send Hip Hop and have some goons abduct and quietly dipose of him somewhere out in the Meadowlands swamps . . . Leegles
Ed Stefanski has no luck at picking coaches, so I think this is a good idea. Jrue has to have better luck than Ed. Bring home the #1 Jrue. You and Walls in the back court will be a start of something exciting. Pat c
I wouldn't mind seeing the Sixers wind up with a good PF that fits the style they play. Favors and Aminu would be good choices. Even Ed Davis would be ok. A center is doable too and Aldrich wouldn't be a bad pick either. For shooting guard, they could trade down and get Henry. So there are lots of options out there that can help the team. There is also a mystery player in Whiteside who is a shot blocking phenom. Need to see him in individual workouts to get a good grasp though since he played for Marshall. The Sixers definitely underachieved significantly this season, which is actually good news looking forward. I am hoping that the coaching change will make a big impact, but sometimes players just underperform. Iguodala is a wonderful player, but he had the worst shooting percentage of his entire career last year. And of course there was a state of flux at PG especially with Williams getting hurt, then bringing in Iverson with alcohol and gambling problems, and finally getting good minutes for Holiday. I'm always an optimist, but it is hard to see things as anything but looking up for our Sixers :) incog69

Jrue is going there, on orders of Ed "The NBA Shark" Stefanski, to see if he bring back Chris Webber, Glen Robinson, Keith Van Horn, and Shawn Bradley for 2010-2011....and Iverson too for a 3rd time- BTW- where is Allen these days??? I am sure he is tending to his daughter like a good Daddy. rwolffd12
Maybe we should have Jrue interview coaching candidates. rmpchf
Why don't they send Pat Croce?? Joseph DeSantis
Jrue should be the public face of the franchise. He is an exciting and dynamic player and will be the best defensive PG in the league in the upcoming season. spizz
Imagine Jrue's face if they land the top pick...oh great, the sixers are going to draft my replacement in John Wall. Genius Brett
I remember when Lou Williams was the point guard of the future. Good Times. mundiff
I think they should draft evan turner, even if they do get the #1 pick.....we don't need john wall....or they could play wall at #2 gaurd like A.I...... tunde25798
Are they going to try and give him back? michaelfb68
