76ers invite Christmas to camp

POSTED: Thursday, September 10, 2009, 11:33 AM

The 76ers have invited former Temple star Dionte Christmas to training camp, which opens at the end of this month at St. Joe's. Christmas, who went undrafted in the 2009 NBA Draft, played with the Sixers/Nets combo team at the Orlando Summer League in early July.

Sixers General Manager Ed Stefanski said it looked like Christmas would accept the offer to come to the Sixers training camp. Stefanski said the team will officially add a few more guys to the camp roster by the beginning of next week.

Hope they add some shooters. Season tickets are down because this offseason management did not address the team's needs: a point guard and shooters to help Brand. As fans, it is hard to accept a team that is .500 or worse.

AWESOME. We let to many quality athletes leave our city. Rasheed,Kobe,Rip and then they go and win championships elsewhere. We need to support Dionte. HE IS ONE OF OUR OWN. Best of luck Dionte. Here in West Chester PA we are really pulling for you. So go out and give it your all. Like you always have.

I'd accept a team with a .100 winning percentage. Otherwise the team will wallow in mediocrity for years to come.

Good to hear, Christmas is a class act. I hope he catches on with an NBA team. Oh, 3 times it's posted and still Charlotte is spelled wrong in each one. Nicely done, starbird.

Every team needs a good TOWEL BOY, especially one schooled at Temple. Where is Dante Cunningham .... oh yeah, he'll be playing for Portland this season, for real! Go Cats!

Not ripping poor Dionte's but if we're going with a Christmas theme then the Sixers are a lump of coal in a Christmas stocking.

It is sad how far this team has fallen from almost all sellouts or at least packed houses. Now no people in the seats, and we traded away our only shooter to utah and well were a team that can run but can't do much once we get there. No real hope to add any big names unless you dump most of the players that we have that have much hope of being good ie young smith iggy. not sure even how this team is gonna turn it around anytime soon. sad to be a sixers fan right now

Dionte Christmas is better than some of the guys on the team but they'll probably keep the losers instead. Carney? Come on. These GM's, including Stefanski, are clueless. Same ol same ol. But he knows how to build a team, just ask him.

It's always the same with this team. It takes five players and they can't ever get it right.....The elite teams in this league laugh at this franchise.

It isn't costing us nothing to take a look at him. Who knows he might win a job on the bench.

I agree with Nic, because Christmas is a Temple guy. I would like to see some of the nitwits on these boards get off Stephanski's back. He too is a Philly guy, a Bonner grad. He is doing a better job than Billy King, that's for sure.

i hope instead of signing carney and Royal Ivey they should have focused on signing ramon sessions instead but it's to late.
