The list
We're less than two days until the bank opens.
When the clock strikes midnight on Tuesday, the Sixers have about $11 million to spend in one of the most important offseasons in recent years.
Only Memphis has nearly as much money to spend as the Sixers.
"We will be active on July 1," GM Ed Stefanski said Thursday night. "We've got to see if we can do something with the opportunity we have. We have a chance to use that money to get someone."
Here's the list of free agents, the most recent available leading up to Tuesday. Obviously, there's a lot to be decided before July 1. Elton Brand, a name the 76ers would very much be interested in, has a $16 million player option that he must decide on.
And then there's restricted free agents like Josh Smith, Luol Deng and Andris Biedrins.
So before the list of players who opt out and are restricted is finalized, what does your ideal offseason for the 76ers look like?
SUEDE: You asked before about Evans. I think he's too valuable to move right now. Not necessarily because he will hold a place UNTIL Speights is ready. I think he's valuable because he will play a big part in GETTING Speights ready. I mean, that's the knock on Speights, right? Not a great work ethic. ES said that before they drafted him, he had a talk with Speights. He said he told Speights that he wanted him to shake his hand after every game, look him in the eye, and tell Es that he gave 110%, and Speights said he would. Evans can show Speights what hard work is. He can show him how to hustle and play hard every minute he is on the floor. To me, that would be at least as valuable as anything Evans does for us while he's on the floor. bski
Blski, agree but wish Brand could serve that role also, by the way Minn. used trade exemption to do this deal, I was way wrong on that, sorry.Morty!s point about Iggy was dead on as far as Josh Smith was concerned on rec.gm..He hopefully takes a little less and keeps us in a good situation cap wise. seude
Suede get your a$$ over to my blog (www.reclinergm) and add your great insight! You are like one of the last few Deep Sixers regulars that haven't made their way over. At least until Narducci comes back or someone else starts covering the Sixers regularly again. ReclinerGM
SUEDE: Get over to reclinergm.com. We're all there and there's a lot to talk about. I'll check back in the morning. bski
