A young draft

NEW YORK -- Kosta Koufos was the ninth freshman taken in tonight's first round, a new NBA record.

Koufos went No. 23 to Utah.

A list of the freshmen:

1. Derrick Rose (Chicago), 2. Michael Beasley (Miami), 3. O.J. Mayo (Minnesota)

John Mitchell is in his second year covering the 76ers for the Inquirer after joining the paper in November 2011. He covered the Washington Wizards for the Washington Times from 1998 to 2008.
