NEW YORK -- We're about 20 minutes from the first pick, which is nothing but a formality now. Chicago, as expected, will select Derrick Rose, the guard from Memphis.

What will happen with the second overall pick, currently belonging to Miami, is still unknown. Whether the Heat pick Michael Beasley, or O.J. Mayo, or trade the pick, will decide how the rest of the first round will look.

Beasley is smiling, as usual, as he sits with the rest of the players to the right of the stage and media seating.

The Knicks fans here at Madison Square Garden would seem to favor Mayo for their team. They cheered loudly when his face was shown on the big screen here inside the theater.

When Danilo Gallinari's face came on, the boos rained down. Shocking.

There was a loud "Jeff Van Gundy" chant going on when the former Knicks coach started talking on ESPN's pre-draft show.

Joe Juliano is at PCOM with the Sixers brass, which did not make the trip to New York. If the timing follows the way it's supposed to, the 76ers should make their pick around 8:20 p.m.

I'll be monitoring the top of the draft from here.
