The 76ers could be a possible landing spot for Houston Rockets center Omer Asik via a trade, CBSSports.com reported Sunday night.
The Rockets are making Jeremy Lin and Asik available in potential trades due to their pursuit of free agent center Dwight Howard. The Rockets are expected to sign Howard, meaning Asik would become expendable.
New Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie was an executive at Houston the past eight seasons. Last summer, the Rockets signed Asik to a three-year, $25.1 million deal when he was restricted free agent with the Chicago Bulls.
Houston waived guard Aaron Brooks and swingman Carlos Delfino and traded forward Thomas Robinson to the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday to create cap space for Howard.
