Sixers hopeful for Brown Wednesday: Moultrie to see more action?

When the 76ers face the Detroit Pistons Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center they hope to have center Kwame Brown back in the lineup, according to coach Doug Collins.

"I'm hoping that Kwame will be able to give us some minutes tomorrow," Collins said following practice on Tuesday.

Brown has missed the last four games due to a calf strain – the same calf strain that forced him out of the first two games of the season – and he has only appeared in one game with the Sixers.  But with big men Lavoy Allen and Spencer not providing the Sixers with much consistency, Collins needs Brown on the floor.

Allen has been held scoreless on 0-for-7 shooting and grabbed just one rebound as the Sixers split games with Toronto and Milwaukee. Hawes has been better over the same time span – he's combined for 18 points and 16 rebounds – but Collins knows that the Sixers have to have to get more physicality out of what thus far has been a non-existent post-up game.

And that's why on Tuesday Collins also said, "I'm going to have to let Arnett [Moultrie] get out there and get some minutes."

Slowed for three months this past summer – he didn't scrimmage until Sept.  – due to a sprained left ankle, the 6-10 rookie from Mississippi said he's ready to go when Collins calls his number.

"I have to take advantage of every opportunity so I'm looking forward to tomorrow night," Moultrie said.

Collins constantly texts his guys when he's not around him.  So what have the messages Collins has texted Moultrie, getting piecemeal minutes so far, said?"

"He tells me to make sure I stay motivated, don't get discouraged and stay focused," Moultrie said.  "I just let him know that I'm going to continue to work hard and be patient.

"Obviously I don't want to see my teammates struggle like this," Moultrie continued, "but at the same time it's a business. I've got to be ready when my name is called."
