Iguodala praises Holiday, Sixers

Jrue Holiday is looking for an extension by tonight's midnight deadline. Maybe he should have former teammate Andre Iguodala put in a good word for him.

Speaking after today's shootaround before his Denver Nuggets face the 76ers in tonight's opener for both teams at the Wells Fargo Center, Iguodala had high praise for Holiday.

"I have always been a huge fan of his and always said he will be one of the elite point guards," Iguodala said. "He is almost there, right there and playing with a lot of confidence."

Holiday has drawn comparisons with tonight's opponent, fellow fourth-year guard Ty Lawson. Those comparisons will continue since Lawson just signed a four-year, $48 million extension.

"They are the new generation of point guards, especially guys ages 24 or 25 or younger and they are more scorers," Iguodala said. "They put a little more pressure on defenses and both those guys have the capability of being able to shoot the ball, get in the paint and being able to finish."

Holiday is 6-foot-4 and Lawson is 5-11 and they both have different ways of finishing.

"Jrue is taller and Ty maybe a little quicker but both are really effective and draw a lot of attention," Iguodala said.

Iguodala has been impressed with the Sixers additions this offseason.

"They play similar to how George Karl wants us to play moving the ball up and down especially with (Andrew) Bynum out," Iguodala said. "They have some great shooters in Dorell Wright and Jason Richardson shot ball well in preseason and Nick Young is probably one of the best best shot makers in the league as far as him being able to get his shot off at any time."
