BOSTON – Boston Celtics guard and defensive stopper Avery Bradley, who has been hampered by an ailing shoulder, won’t play in tonight’s Game 5 against the 76ers.
When asked if Bradley could return for Wednesday’s Game 6 in Philadelphia, Celtics coach Doc Rivers wasn’t sure.
“We will focus on tonight and take care of that and tomorrow, and Thursday we will worry about that,” Rivers said.
Bradley has earned the reputation as one of the young rising defensive players in the NBA.
“We lose our defensive captain, him and Kevin are terrific,” Rivers said. “It takes away the ability to put (Rajon) Rondo on other guys and give him a rest at times. I think ball pressure against Philly is very important and to ask Rondo to do that and run the team is very difficult.”
