Elton Brand won’t play in tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers at Wells Fargo Center due to a sprained right thumb.
Coach Doug Collins made the announcement following today’s shootaround.
“Elton is out so we will start the way we did the other night,” Collins said.
Brand had said he wanted to see how it felt before the game, but Collins said that wouldn’t be the case.
“EB, it’s hard for him to catch the ball, and if somebody cracks him on the hand or whatever, he is just not ready to play,” Collins said.
Lavoy Allen will again start for the Sixers.
Brand suffered the injury in Friday’s 99-79 loss to Miami and missed Saturday’s victory in Atlanta.
