Allentown’s Amanda Seyfried has been enjoying a real Hollywood roll in recent years, starring in films like Mama Mia! with Meryl Streep, In Time with Justin Timberlake and Les Miserables with Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway.

Next month she takes on her most daring part yet, the title character in Lovelace. Seyfried dons a brunette wig and gets down and dirty for the R-rated film about ‘70s porn star, Linda Lovelace (born Linda Susan Boreman.) She was the star of Deep Throat, the 1972 skin flick that enjoyed extraordinary, almost mainstream success.

Peter Sarsgaard, who has been so good in AMC’s The Killing this season, plays her seedy first husband, whom she accused of having horribly abused her. In the trailer, you also see Chloe Sevigny as a reporter, James Franco as Hugh Hefner and Sharon Stone as Boreman’s mother.

Our favorite moment, as the cameras roll on Deep Throat, Bobby Canavale boasts to fellow smut producer Hank Azaria, “We’re all gonna win Oscars!”

Lovelace opens in area theaters on Aug. 8
