M. Night Shyamalan is coming to the small screen. The Chester County filmmaker, who shot to fame with The Sixth Sense will be making his first scripted TV series for Syfy.

Proof is the story of a tech billionaire’s son, who after his parents tragically die, offers a huge sum of money to anyone who can truly establish that there is life after death.

Shyamalan will write and executive produce the series with TV veteran Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). He will also direct – at least the pilot. Shyamalan, who turns 42 this week, recently completed work on a film After Earth with Will Smith and his son Jaden.

He has some history with Syfy. Back in 2004, when it was still known as the Sci Fi Channel, the outlet presented a special The Buried Secret of M. Night Shyamalan that was little more than a transparent plug for his movie The Village.

Awesome! I'll continue to back M. Night despite his rough spell as of late. I actually just thought of him while watching TDK. Night probably had a good laugh at Nolan's lame "twist". Shyamalan rules!

Sounds like an interesting premise. Despite some recent disappointments, I still think Shyamalan is brilliant. Hope this show delivers.

he's a one-trick pony who was sussed-out years ago. i can't see this series lasting more than one season, and i can't see his direcing career lasting much longer

I wonder if the network will throw a surprise Shyamalan-ian twist and cancel the show 5 minutes before the first episode airs.

The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs are my all time favorite movies...The Village was cool although I predicted the out come of the movie...the two after that were ehhh...and I never saw the last one...looking forward to the Will Smith one though! This series sounds interesting!
