Secret submissions are announced for season 12

Surprise! You’re on ‘American Idol’

Now ´American Idol´ will come to pick you up!
Now 'American Idol' will come to pick you up!

You know that Publishers Clearing House van that drives around and changes peoples' lives?

Well, this year it could be the American Idol van telling you that you’re a contestant – even though you never went to one of those cattle call auditions where they fill a football stadium with aspiring singers.

The show announced today that for Season 12, it will begin allowing family and friends to submit videos or weblinks of performers without their knowledge. In other words you can be secretly nominated and accepted.

Then the van rolls up with a camera crew to shock you with the news. Make sure you scream in tune.

I’m thinking of secretly submitting Steven Tyler, draft him back on the show.
