Ratings report: NBC’s worst night EVER!

Thursday night was the worst in network history

Remember Must See TV? That was NBC's vaunted Thursday night lineup, which over the years boasted ratings blockbusters like The Cosby Show, Friends, Cheers, Seinfeld and ER.

Hard to believe we're looking at the same network. NBC just notched the worst Thursday ever for regularly scheduled in-season first-run programming. In other words, primetime.

Parks and Recreation started things off disastrously with two episodes that marked all-time lows for the series. You know you're a network in trouble when you get beat by a show on the CW. In this case The Vampire Diaries. If you're one of the big four, that's like getting whupped by a test pattern.

(Tiny asterisk here: CW numbers might have been marginally inflated last night because the Thursday night NFL Network game between the Saints and the Falcons was shown on the CW affiliate in Atlanta.)

The hits just kept coming (Not!), as Sean Saves the World and The Michael J. Fox Show both tied series lows. None of the NBC comedies broke 3 million viewers.

Parenthood mercifully ended the night, with 3.6 million viewers and a 1.2 rating in the 18-49 year old bracket. It got absolutely scalded by both Scandal (ABC) and Elementary (CBS).

Must see? Surely you jest.
