Philly tunes out World Series

The rest of the country is watching. But not here.

Local viewing habits in the Philadelphia market generally follow national norms. OK, we like Two Broke Girls and Grey's Anatomy more than the rest of the country. So sue us.

I'll tell you what we don't like: the World Series currently playing out between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers. Unh- unh. Don't like it one little bit.

In the Nielsen ratings numbers issued today, the World Series claimed three of the highest rated slots in the national top ten, led by Game 4. All the games Nielsen counted made the Top 30. (The results for Game 5 will be tabulated next week.)

Thsi particular Fall Classic isn't setting ratings records. Not by a long shot. But still, that's not a bad showing. If you don't count the City of Brotherly Love and its environs. And really, you can't. Because in Philly, not a single one of those four games even cracked our Top 30! Let me put this another way. Rules of Engagement attracted a larger audience here than any of the World Series games played on Fox in prime time.

So what is it, people? Boycotting because it's so freaking obvious the Phillies deserve to be there? Or do you just find these two teams to be duller than the Duluth Ducks?
