'Manhattan Love Story' yanked by ABC

The Tuesday night sitcom becomes the first show pulled from the schedule

Manhattan Love Story didn't enjoy much of a honeymoon. ABC pulled the show from its schedule after four episodes. It will be replaced by reruns of Selfie, another ABC freshman which has not been doing appreciably better in the ratings.

Jake McDorman and Analeigh Tipton played awkward daters in the comedy which was intended to show how differently men and women perceive the same things.

That premise lasted about halfway through the pilot. Part of the problem was the lack of chemistry between McDorman (Are You There, Chelsea?) and Tipton (America's Next Top Model).

Manhattan Love Story debuted with 4.7 million viewers and a slender 1.3 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic. It dropped from there. After four installments it was averaging 3.3 million viewers and a 1.0 rating.

It becomes the first official cancellation of the season, i.e., the first new series pulled from the primetime schedule.
