Flavor Flav: Stiffing His Fast Food Employees?

Controversy swirls around the reality show magnate as workers at his chicken shack claim their paychecks bounced.

One-time rapper and reality show fixture Flavor Flav ('Strange Love', 'The Flavor of Love') is making the transition to restaurateur. He's off to a rocky start.

The grand opening of Flav's Fried Chicken in Clinton, Iowa was overshadowed by the complaints of disgruntled workers that their paychecks are bouncing

"My check was only $150 and they couldn't even cash it," employee Kelly Butler told Iowa TV station WQAD.

Butler said that after several local banks refused to cash the check, she drove to the bank which issued the check and was informed that no funds were available. Several other workers at Flav's Fried Chicken confirmed that they are now three weeks behind on salary.

At the grand opening, Flavor Flav flatly denied that there were any problems (see video, below. Note the colorful balloons.)

His business partner, Nick Cimino, was more circumspect. "We had a little glitch in the credit cards," he said. "We had a couple that did bounce. That happens to any new business."

Flav and Cimino plan to franchise the restaurant nationally.

"Yeah boyee."  Is the chicken rubber too?
