First look at 'Footloose' remake

The kids cut loose again in 'Footloose'

Blame it on the dancing. That’s the familiar premise of Footloose, the remake of the classic 1984 film about a town that bans its kids from shaking a tail feather.

But don’t you see, Gramps, that’s only going to make them want to dance with greater abandon?

The trailer for the film, which opens in October, has just been released (see video below). Looks like a hot time in the old town.

Kenny Wormald takes on the Kevin Bacon role as the rebellious new kid in town and Julianne Hough of Dancing with the Stars gets Lori Singer’s part as the preacher’s daughter who is ready to kick up her heels.

The spectacle of Hough in Daisy Dukes? I’d call that trading up.

Wonder what’s in the new soundtrack? The original had everyone from Sammy Hagar to Shalamar.

It will have to have Kenny Loggins’ title tune, right? Everybody sing:

“Loose, footloose

Kick off your Sunday shoes

Please, Louise

Pull me offa my knees

Jack, get back

C'mon before we crack

Lose your blues

Everybody cut footloose”.

That’s odd. I was fairly convinced that the plea to Louise was “Glory-oski my knees.”
