E Streeter Clarence Clemons suffers stroke

Reports say the saxophonist is “seriously Ill”.

Clarence Clemons, the saxophonist who provided such staunch support to Bruce Springsteen over the years, suffered a serious stroke yesterday at his home in Florida.

The Big Man, 69, "is said to be seriously ill" according to the website Showbiz411. The report went on to say that "members of the E Street Band were advised to get down to Florida as soon as possible."

Clemons has suffered a number of health issues in recent years, and for a while was performing from a wheelchair following back problems and knee replacements.

But he seemed pretty hearty backing Lady Gaga (see video, below) on the American Idol finale last month.
