Fox’s Bones, starring Emily Deschanel and Malvern Prep grad David Boreanaz, shows no signs of becoming ossified. The network announced today that the series will be extended to a 9th season.

Fans had their doubts after Boreanaz put up several tweets this summer strongly suggesting that the crime procedural with comic/romantic overtones was going to end after this year. But the lead actors reportedly signed contract extensions just before the calendar flipped to 2013.

The show which has been on “winter hiatus” returns on Monday (1/14) with a double episode. In this scene from Monday, Dr. Brennan (Deschanel) is delighted at the prospect of going undercover on a TV dance show copmpetition. Then she finds out something unexpected from Booth's past.
