Steven Tyler: Show me the money, 'Idol'

After J.Lo's raise, Tyler wants to renegotiate his deal

Steven Tyler: Show me the money, 'Idol'

I´ll have what she´s having
I'll have what she's having

It’s not hard to understand. The person in the chair next to you gets a big raise. You’re going to want one too.

In this case, the jealousy involves the celebrity judges on American Idol. As the cash cow goes into its 11th season, Jennifer Lopez is close to signing a new deal that will take her to $20 million a year just for finding nice things to say to everyone who sings.

Steven Tyler, in the middle of a two-year deal that pays him $10 million a season, wants to renegotiate. He thinks that what’s paid to the goose should be paid to the gander.

A source told the New York Post, “Steven’s management has asked for more money. They argue he was just as sensational and as popular on the panel as Jennifer. But, on the other side, show bosses argue he's tied into a deal and has to stick to it. However, it's hoped they can come to a compromise to keep Steven happy, because the producers love him .”

Why wouldn’t they? He lends the singing contest some much needed rock star cred.

Reportedly the amount of J.Lo’s raise has already been hashed out. The remaining issue is how to work her busy schedule around Idol’s production dates.

And Randy Jackson? The Big Dawg can hem and haw but he has zippo leverage. Idol’s producers know he’d have to be crazy to walk away from the sweetest situation he’ll ever have.
