And that’s a wrap.
Obama conluded his neighborhood tour in West Philly, with a rocking rally at 52nd and Locust streets. A crowd estimated at 20,000 jammed shoulder to shoulder for blocks under the sunshine, shouting, screaming and waving signs.
From the audience, we kept hearing the same word over and over: history.
“We’re going to make history, baby,” said 72-year-old Naomi Smith, of West Philadelphia, who said she’d been out waiting since 8:30 in the morning. “Everybody’s for him and he brought out the young people.”
Vicky Moody, 54, of West Philly, said people in the neighborhood are excited. “This whole campaign period is different. I’ve never experienced anything like this.”
