State Rep. Brendan Boyle, one of four Democrats seeking the 13th District Congressional seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz, is hanging on to the $10,000 he received from the Ironworkers, Local 401.

Schwartz today decided to donate to charity a $10,000 contribution from the union after 10 members, including Business Manager Joseph Dougherty, were indicted on charges of extortion, arson, destruction of property and assault.

"Certainly we don't condone any of the alleged actions of a few individuals," Boyle said in a statement released by a spokesman. "But nor do we think it's fair to impugn the reputations of the thousands of Iron workers in this local, or the tens of thousands of hard working members of the building trades."
