Rendell Stumps for Obama

Gov. Rendell ardently supported Sen. Hillary Clinton during the Pennsylvania Primary Election, saying the election wasn't about picking a "rock star" and questioning whether some Pennsylvania residents are prepared to elect an African-American.

But since Obama won the primary, the Guv has signed on with his campaign and this morning appeared on a conference call with Obama staffers to tout outreach plans for the state. Rendell pumped up the Obama candidacy throughout the call.

"I am confident that we will win this state…Obama is so much more on message for working Americans than John McCain," Rendell said

At the end of the call, Rendell spoke about Obama's success in registering new voters, saying that it will make a difference in Pennsylvania in the fall. He also noted that had the Obama campaign not registered so many folks, Clinton might have won the primary by 14, 15 or 16 points and "maybe had the game changing victory she needed."

Wishful thinking, governor?
