Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Williams just opened the federal case against City Councilman Jack Kelly’s former chief of staff, Chris Wright, and three of his political allies. She said Wright was “seduced” by gifts and the potential for future wealth by Andy Teitelman, Kelly’s one-time campaign treasurer, and two real estate developers, Hardeep and Ravinder Chawla.
“He eagerly linked arms with his co-defendants because he wanted all they were offering him and more,” after pointing to Wright. “He was at their beck and call. And they did call. Often. All while paying Wright valuable benefits. That is a crime.”
Williams laid out that Wright received $1,000, more than $15,000 in free rent for a Rittenhouse Square apartment and free legal services.
