Poll: Obama hits magic 50 percent mark in PA, OH & FL

President Obama has hit what Quinnipiac University Polling Institute Assistant Director Tim Malloy calls the "magic number" of 50 percent or better in the general election swing states of Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida. Obama leads former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican nominee for president:

President Obama has hit what Quinnipiac University Polling Institute Assistant Director Tim Malloy calls the "magic number" of 50 percent or better in the general election swing states of Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida.  Obama leads former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican nominee for president:

  1. Pennsylvania: 53-42 percent

  2. Ohio: 50-44 percent

  3. Florida: 51-45 percent

The poll also found strong support for Obama's plan to end the Bush tax cuts for families making more than $250,000 per year.  Sixty-two percent of those polled in Pennsylvania support the idea while 60 percent in Ohio and 58 percent in Florida back the plan.

The poll, which you can read here, finds U.S. Sen. Bob Casey Jr. leading Republican challenger Tom Smith, a former coal company owner from Armstrong County, by 55-37 percent.  The poll also found voters disapprove of the job Gov. Corbett is doing by a margin of 45-38 percent.
