PICA will soon start search for new executive director

The Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Cooperation Authority [PICA]–the city's state-appointed fiscal watchdog will soon begin searching for a new executive director.

Uri Monson will be leaving from his post as executive director on January 23.

Sam Katz, board chairman of PICA said today during their monthly meeting that a committee consisting of him and two other board members will solicit proposals early next month –for the $150,000 job.

"Thank you for some great service, total professionalism and we wish you the best in your future endeavors," Katz told Monson.

Monson has declined to comment about his future plans.

Sources said that Monson was approached about replacing City Council's Chief Financial Officer Charles McPherson, who was on a personal services contract for the last 18 months and will retire Dec. 31.

Sources say that Council's next president Darrell Clarke is eyeing a number of candidates for the post, but Clarke would not say who and denied reaching out to Monson.

City Hall sources said that a job in Montgomery County may be Monson's next stop.
