Mayor Nutter is reminding homeowners that if they apply for the city's homestead exemption tax relief program by Thursday, then it will be reflected on their new property assessments.
The homestead exemption will lower the assessed value of a homeowner's primary residence by $30,000. Of the city's roughly 320,000 eligible homeowners, about 210,000 have already applied, city officials said.
Nutter said that applying by close of business Thursday means that the $30,000 reduction will appear on the new market-value based assessments, which are set to go to property owners in February. Those who miss the deadline can still apply until July 1, 2013.
