New Q Poll: Wagner up to speed in PA Gov Democratic primary
A new Quinnipiac University Poll out today demonstrates the same anticipated results as today's Daily News/Franklin & Marshall College Poll and yesterday's Harper Poll: Tom Wolf's early splurge on biographical television campaign advertising is paying off with a surge in popularity. But the Q-Poll shows something else too: Former state Auditor General Jack Wagner, who just entered the May 20 Democratic primary election on Thursday, is keeping pace with U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz and state Treasurer Rob McCord, two candidates who have been campaigning for months.
A new Quinnipiac University Poll out today demonstrates the same anticipated results as today's Daily News/Franklin & Marshall College Poll and yesterday's Harper Poll: Tom Wolf's early splurge on biographical television campaign advertising is paying off with a surge in popularity in the Democratic primary election for governor.
But the Q-Poll shows something else too: Former state Auditor General Jack Wagner, who just entered that primary Thursday, is keeping pace with U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz and state Treasurer Rob McCord, two candidates who have been campaigning for months.
The poll found Wagner defeating Gov. Corbett's bid for a second term 44-37 percent in a head-to-head general election match-up. Schwartz led Corbett 44-38 percent while McCord led Corbett 43-36 percent.
It's not all good news for Wagner. The poll conducted from last Wednesday to Monday, showed Wagner's lead over Corbett slipping 4 percent, from 48 percent to 44 percent, from a December Quinnipiac University Poll, when Wagner was not yet in the race.
The impact of Wolf's television campaign is clear in the same time period. His numbers jumped from 44-37 percent over Corbett in the December poll to 52-33 percent over Corbett in the new poll.
