Mayor's Spokesman Gives Back City Car

Mayoral Spokesman Doug Oliver returned his city vehicle on Monday, two weeks after drawing media attention for asking special permission to drive his son to school several days a week in the car.

"At the end of the day, it was a distraction. I have no interest in being a distraction," Oliver said. He also said he didn't want his son caught in the middle of any news stories.

"I transport my son to school. I didn’t want my use of a public vehicle to invite a level of scrutiny that would put my son in a public environment," Oliver said.

Of course the big question is what happens to the "NO CMMNT" vanity plate?

"That was on my personal vehicle," Oliver said.
