Mayor Nutter Shuffles Some Staffers Around

MAYOR NUTTER ANNOUNCES PERSONNEL CHANGES WITHIN MAYOR'S OFFICE

Philadelphia, December 31 – Mayor Michael A. Nutter has announced the following personnel changes within the Mayor's Office.

"These moves are designed to enhance planning and coordination both within the Mayor's Office and throughout the Administration," said Mayor Nutter. "These individuals have demonstrated great progress and achievement over their time in city government and today's announcement is recognition of some of the great talent that we have serving the citizens of Philadelphia."

Suzanne Biemiller – Director of Policy, Planning and Coordination
As of January 1, 2010, Suzanne Biemiller assumes the position of Director of Policy, Planning and Coordination, a Cabinet level position. Suzanne will convene and coordinate the activities of a policy roundtable established within the Office of the Mayor and coordinate policy development with other senior members of the Administration, including the Managing Director, Finance Director, Deputy Mayors, Commissioners, City Solicitor, Commerce Director, and City Representative. Suzanne has worked for the Nutter Administration since September 2008, initially in a grant-funded role in the Mayor's Office of Sustainability and helped develop the Greenworks Philadelphia sustainability framework. She has since worked in the Finance Director's Office handling a variety of special projects. She is filling the position previously held by Wendell Pritchett. Suzanne's salary remains $125,000 and is subject to a 5% salary reduction and five furlough days for this fiscal year.

Jordan Schwartz – Deputy Chief of Staff
Effective January 1, 2010, Jordan Schwartz will serve as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Mayor under the supervision of Chief of Staff Clarence Armbrister. Jordan has served as Special Assistant to the Mayor since January 2008. His salary as Deputy Chief of Staff will be $90,000, subject to a 3.75% salary reduction and five furlough days for this fiscal year.

Jennie Sparandara – Director of Anti-Poverty Initiatives
Effective January 1, 2010, Jennie Sparandara will become Director of Anti-Poverty Initiatives. She will assume primary responsibility in the Mayor's Office for the coordination of the Mayor's anti-poverty programs and workforce development initiatives. Jennie has served as Senior Policy Analyst in the Office of the Mayor since
January 2008. Her salary as Director of Anti-Poverty Initiatives will be $85,000, subject to a 3.75% salary reduction and five furlough days this fiscal year.

In addition Mayor Nutter also announced two title changes within the Mayor's Office. There is no change in salary for these positions.

Tumar Alexander – Deputy Director of Legislative and Community Affairs
Effective January 1, 2010, Tumar Alexander's new title will be Deputy Director of Legislative and Community Affairs. Tumar has served as Government Affairs Specialist in the Legislative Affairs Office since January 2008. In addition to his work in supporting the Legislative agenda of the Administration, Tumar will help in the coordination of community outreach efforts of the Administration. Tumar's salary will not change.

Keri Salerno – Director of Philanthropic Relations
The Office of Grants and Foundations has been renamed to the Office of Philanthropic Relations. As a result, Keri Salerno's title has been changed from Grants and Foundations Officer to Director of Philanthropic Relations. Keri's salary will not change.
