Gov. Christie lowers expectation for Ryan in V.P. debate
Christie doesn't seem to be as confident about U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, the seven-termer from Wisconsin chosen by Romney to share the ticket. Christie, while taking credit for being correct about Obama's poor debate performance, just told Dom Giordano on 1210 WPHT-AM that he thinks Ryan will be "effective" in the vice presidential debate Thursday.
It is politically predictable: Presidential campaign surrogates seek to lower the expectations for their candidates in advance of debates while talking up the rhetorical skills of the opponent.
That's what made New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's assertions on the Sunday television news shows last week so notable. He said Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney would change the narrative of the campaign when debating President Obama. And he was right.

In contrast, Christie predicts Vice President Joe Biden will come out "in attack mode" against Ryan.
"He has to," Christie said. "Because he has to clean up the mess his boss made last week by not showing up at the debate."
