In it's final hearing next week, City Council's Special Investigative Committee --established in the wake of the fatal Center City building collapse -- is calling on the public to weigh in on how to improve demolition practices.
The hearing scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 15 at 1 p.m. in Council Chambers will be the last of five hearings held this summer.
Council president Darrelll Clarke created the committee after a four-story building that was being demolished collapsed onto a neighboring Salvation Army thrift shop killing six people in June.
Over the course of Council's investigation, the legislative body has heard from building trades experts, demolition experts, the Nutter administration and former Licenses and Inspection Commissioners. But before Council produces a report on its findings, members want to hear from the public on recommnedations for reforming the city's demolition practices.
