Corbett Holds 15-Point Lead On Onorato, New Poll Shows

A Quinnipiac University Poll of likely voters released this morning shows state Attorney General Tom Corbett, the Republican nominee for governor, holding a 15-point lead, 54-39 percent, over his Democratic opponent, Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato.

A Quinnipiac University Poll of likely voters released this morning shows state Attorney General Tom Corbett, the Republican nominee for governor, holding a 15-point lead, 54-39 percent, over his Democratic opponent, Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato.  You can see the poll here.

The poll found Corbett's lead was "fueled" by support from independent voters in the Nov. 2 general election.  The poll also found the group of undecided voters is shrinking as the election approaches, with just 7 percent saying they had not made up their minds.

"An Onorato victory probably would require a sea change among independent voters who are now strongly in Corbett's camp and often are the group that decides elections,"  said Peter Brown, assistant director of the polling institute.

The poll was conducted from September 15 - 19, with 684 Pennsylvania likely voters surveyed and a margin of error of +/- 3.8 percentage points.
