Cops arrest Occupy Philly member

Police arrested a 47-year-old man earlier today after a woman was assaulted at the Occupy Philly Dilworth Plaza camp site.

Police arrested a 47-year-old man earlier today after he was accused of assaulting a woman at Occupy Philly Dilworth Plaza camp site.

Chief Inspector Joseph Sullivan said the 45-year-old victim told police the man punched and slapped her shortly before 1 a.m.

Investigators found the man several hours later and arrested him. Sullivan said the victim and the man who is accused of attacking her are both homeless. Both told police they were a part of Occupy Philly.

At some point overnight, Sullivan said, the walls below Dilworth Plaza were tagged with fresh graffiti -- and feces.

"The sanitary condition [below the plaza] are out of control," Sullivan said. "It makes you want to throw up."
