City Hall tower tours will halt while a crack in balcony is repaired

Managing Director Rich Negrin today announced that the city will halt tours of the City Hall tower, while a crack in the north part of the tower is repaired.

The problem was first reported by Fox 29 this week.

Possibly the result of the minor earthquake last month, Negrin said the crack was discovered when marble debris was found on the roof. It faces inward, Negrin said, so people walking under City Hall face no danger. On the advice of an engineer, the city will tomorrow start a month-long process to fix the crack.

City Hall tours will continue, but they will not venture up into the tower for at least a week.
