Bruce Castor won't challenge Gov. Corbett in 2014 GOP primary election

Montgomery County Commissioner Bruce Castor has decided against challenging Gov. Corbett in a 2014 Republican primary election, according to posts just placed on his Facebook page and Twitter feed.

Here's what Castor had to say:

After a great deal of consideration, I have decided not to run for Governor in 2014.I want to thank all those who encouraged and advised me over the last six months. Simply put, my duties as Montgomery County Commissioner, a lawyer with Elliott Greenleaf, and the responsibilities to my family, make a massive undertaking such as running governor impossible for me this election cycle. I appreciate all of you who followed me here and on Twitter. Thank you. Bruce

Castor started publicly mulling a primary challenge for Corbett in December, saying he would make a decision by the spring.  Castor cited three reasons for considering a run for governor: Corbett's role as state attorney general in the investigation of child sexual abuse by former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, Corbett's problems getting legislation through the state General Assembly and Corbett's inability to help his hand-picked candidate win the post of attorney general last year.
